Samsung Confirms Trifold Smartphone Launch by Year-End

It turns out Samsung had a trick up its sleeve, even after its big Unpacked event. While we saw cool new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 phones, plus new Galaxy Watch 8 models, the true innovation was kept secret. Now, the cat is out of the bag. Samsung is officially working on a phone that folds not once, but twice. This trifold device is set to launch by the end of this year.

This big news comes straight from TM Roh, the head of Samsung’s Device Experience Division. He told the Korea Times that his team is working hard on this new trifold phone. He said they aim to release it later in 2025. This confirms what many tech fans have hoped for.

Right now, the phone doesn’t have an official name. Some rumors suggest it might be called the "Galaxy Fold G." Roh mentioned that they are focusing on making the product perfect and easy to use. The name will come later. Interestingly, Android Authority shared a video. It showed animations from Samsung’s One UI 8 software. These videos seem to reveal how the new trifold phone will look and work.

Why a Trifold Now?

Samsung’s current foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, is already quite good. It is as thin and light as a regular top-tier phone like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It offers strong performance and excellent cameras. This phone costs almost 2000 euros. With the "book-style" foldable perfected, it makes sense for Samsung to try something bolder.

A phone with two hinges would open up to a screen the size of a tablet. This would put Samsung at the front of new phone ideas. It would compete with devices like Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate. Samsung has a clear advantage though. Unlike Huawei’s phones, which face limits in some markets, Samsung’s products reach users worldwide.

What About the Price?

The cost will be a big challenge. Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate started at 3499 euros. This suggests Samsung’s first trifold will cost even more than the Z Fold 7. This high price is likely because the phone offers so much flexibility. It can change from a phone to a tablet.

This move shows Samsung still wants to innovate. The company is ready to push boundaries, even if it goes against current market trends. It seems Samsung is determined to lead the foldable phone market into new territory.
