Manchester United Hires Nutritionist Filipe Sousa, Expanding Ruben Amorim’s Portuguese Staff

Manchester United is starting to look a lot more Portuguese these days. It seems the club is bringing in more talent from Portugal than ever before. This growing trend recently saw another expert join the Red Devils.

The latest name to arrive is Filipe Sousa. He comes to Old Trafford as the new first-team nutritionist. Sousa left his role at Vitória Guimarães to take on this big job with the English giant. He joins what many are calling the new ‘Portuguese wave’ at the club. This group is linking up with coach Ruben Amorim. Just recently, Acácio Valentim also joined Manchester United as the team operations manager.

Sousa had a full career in football before he focused on nutrition. He played professionally for several teams. His most important playing days were with Aves in the Portuguese second league. After hanging up his boots, he decided to dedicate himself completely to the science of nutrition.

His journey in nutrition began right there at Aves. He then worked with coach Luís Castro at Shakhtar Donetsk. Sousa also gained experience at other Portuguese clubs, including Vizela and Famalicão. Most recently, he was with Vitória Guimarães, his hometown club. Sousa finished his time there last season. Now, he heads to Manchester to join Ruben Amorim’s staff, bringing his unique blend of playing experience and nutritional expertise to the team.
