Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air is set to be their thinnest phone yet. Fresh reports from China hint at an exciting new color for this super-slim device. It seems Apple is preparing a shade never before seen on any of its products.
A well-known tipster named Fixed Focus Digital, active on China’s Weibo platform, dropped some interesting news. They shared insights from internal sources. The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly come in a brand-new light blue color. This unique hue could be a major selling point for Apple’s first ultra-thin smartphone.
Fixed Focus Digital has a solid track record for Apple leaks. For example, they accurately predicted Apple would rename the fourth-generation iPhone SE to iPhone 16e. This history makes their claims about the new iPhone 17 Air color quite compelling.
The new blue for the iPhone 17 Air is said to be very different from past Apple blues. Sources describe it as an extremely faint light blue. It might even be so pale that it gets confused with white.
Interestingly, some rumors suggest this faint blue might feel similar to the ‘Sierra Blue’ from the iPhone 13 Pro. That color was a standout choice when it arrived in 2021. Sierra Blue was one of the most iconic colors for that iPhone series.
Sierra Blue was the first time Apple used such a light tone on an iPhone. It managed to keep a vibrant blue shade. The finish had a cool, metallic feel, almost like ice. Sometimes, in certain light, it could even look like a soft grey.
Apple tried lighter tones again with the iPhone 15 series in 2023. These were softer pastel blues. They appeared on the glass and aluminum surfaces of the iPhone 15 models.
iPhone 17 Air Expected Features
There have been other whispers about the iPhone 17 Air’s features:

- The phone’s body could be incredibly thin, just 5.5mm.
- The display is expected to support a 120 Hz refresh rate.
- It should run on Apple’s A19 chipset. This chip will be made using TSMC’s 3-nanometer N3P process.
- A Camera Control button might be included. This is similar to the one rumored for all four iPhone 16 models. It helps with photo controls.
- The phone is also expected to support Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
Apple plans to unveil the iPhone 17 Air in September 2025. It will launch alongside the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.
