FURIA’s LoL Team Communication Strategy Revealed Amid LTA Success

The esports manager for FURIA, Lucas “Maestro” Pierre, recently shared insights into the team’s communication dynamics. Maestro revealed how the Brazilian players and their American coach, Thomas “Thinkcard” Slotkin, work together.

Communicating in a Global Team

The FURIA team, composed entirely of Brazilian players, has been having a great run in the League of The Americas. They finished as the leader of group B in the previous stage of the tournament. But what’s it like to communicate when the team’s primary language is Portuguese and the coach speaks English?

FURIA’s coach Thinkcard decided it was best to let the players communicate in their native language, Portuguese, during games. However, when discussing strategies and reviews outside of the game, the team makes an effort to speak 90% English. This way, everyone can understand each other.

As Maestro explained on social media, the team tried using English during games, but it was better for them to stick with Portuguese. Outside of the game, they focus on using English for reviews, discussions, and feedback.

The team’s next challenge is on June 7th against paiN Gaming in a best-of-five match for a spot in the grand final. If they win, they’ll be one step closer to competing in the Mid-Season Invitational and the Esports World Cup.
