69% of Amazon Sellers Don’t Expand Globally Despite Company Efforts

Amazon is growing its global markets, but many sellers aren’t joining in. They stick to one market.

Seller Stats

A study by Marketplace Pulse found 69% of Amazon sellers operate in just one market. Less than 1% sell in 11 or more countries. Even ambitious sellers mostly stay in one market.

Amazon has 23 active markets and tools to simplify global sales. Yet, most sellers focus on one market.

In 2024, Amazon had 9.7 million sellers worldwide. 1.9 million made active sales. Over 1 million new sellers join each year.

Amazon’s Global Sales Tools

Amazon offers tools to help sellers go global:

  • Joint accounts: manage multiple markets from one account.
  • Amazon Logistics: storage, packaging, and distribution services.
  • Currency converter: accept local currency payments.
  • International listing tool: coordinate prices and promotions across markets.

Going Global Isn’t Easy

Sellers face challenges when expanding globally. Each country has its own regulations, taxes, and requirements. Logistic management can be costly and complicated. Product descriptions, marketing strategies, and customer service must be adjusted to local languages and cultures.
