Amazon Prime Video Launches TV Channels with Ads and Popular Content

Amazon Prime Video is one of the most popular streaming services in Germany, offering a wide variety of films and series. However, with so many options available, some users might find it overwhelming to choose what to watch on a cozy evening. To make the viewing experience more straightforward, Amazon is planning to launch its own TV channel for Prime Video.

As reported in an interview with DWDL, this new TV station aims to provide a linear programming experience with established content, giving it a more classic feel. The channel will include advertisements, but they’ll be shorter than those found in traditional live TV.

Start and Price

The TV channel is set to launch on April 17, 2025, at 8:15 p.m., with the first two episodes of the new season of “LOL: Last One Laughing.” To access the channel, you’ll need a streaming device and a Prime Video subscription, which costs 8.99 euros per month. The offer will also be supported by advertising breaks, making it an exciting opportunity for advertising partners. This linear channel might be particularly appealing to Prime customers who haven’t taken full advantage of Prime Video’s offerings yet.

Content

In addition to the current season of LOL, Amazon plans to showcase its successful in-house productions on the channel. These will include popular series like “Fallout,” “Reacher,” “Maxton Hall,” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” – for which the production of the third season was recently announced. The channel will also feature films that have gained international attention, such as “Culpa Mia – My Fault.” Essentially, the TV station could be seen as a “Best of” compilation of Amazon’s streaming service, highlighting its most acclaimed content.
