Tate McRae, the new pop sensation, has released her third studio album, “So Close To What”, and it’s a game-changer. The album is a reflection of her personal growth and experiences, with songs that touch on themes of self-discovery, nostalgia, and raw emotions. I had the chance to sit down with Tate and talk about her inspirations, challenges, and expectations for her upcoming tour.
The album is a masterclass in atmospheric pop, with Tate’s signature vocal style and introspective lyrics taking center stage. From the opening notes of the first track, it’s clear that this is an artist who has found her voice and is unafraid to use it. The album’s sound is reminiscent of the pop of the early 2000s, with nods to artists like Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls, and Nelly Furtado.
Tate’s music is deeply personal, and she draws heavily from her own experiences. When I asked her about the inspiration behind the album, she explained that it’s a reflection of her life at a specific moment. “I think it’s a reflection of my life at a specific moment,” she said. “I have always thought that writing has been my way of talking about all the things I keep in my head, which I think and keep quiet, so I write them.”
One of the standout tracks on the album is “Purple Lace Bra”, which Tate described as the most difficult song to write. “I had an idea in my head of what I meant, and to be able to articulate that perfectly was a challenge,” she explained. “We really had to talk a lot to understand how we were going to explain this whole concept in a nutshell.”
Tate’s growth as an artist is evident in her music, and she’s not afraid to push boundaries and try new things. When I asked her about her evolution as an artist, she said, “I think I’ve changed a lot. I’m 21 now, and I’m going through a lot of things in my head and in my life, like any other person. And I think, because I keep it quite authentic, some of my fans connect with my music.”
The “Miss Possessive Tour” is set to kick off in Mexico, and Tate is excited to bring her high-energy show to fans. “It will be a mixture of the Miss Possessive Tour and my last tour, because I have never been in Mexico,” she said. “There will be songs from both albums, so they expect a lot of dance and some new arrangements of songs. My intention is to maintain high energy and tell a story throughout the show.”
Tate’s fans in Mexico can expect a thrilling show, with plenty of surprises and new music. “I hope they are incredible,” she said. “I have heard that they are fantastic. So I am excited to go there and feel the energy. It is also fun to go to new places and see how they process music and what is their type of favorite songs and sounds.”
With “So Close To What”, Tate McRae has cemented her place as one of the most exciting new artists in pop. Her music is authentic, relatable, and above all, infectious. Don’t miss her live show when she comes to town – it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
Tate McRae will perform at the Pepsi Center WTC on March 18, and tickets are available now. Get ready to experience the energy and excitement of her live show, and don’t forget to listen to “So Close To What” on repeat until then.
