Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Chhaava’ created a buzz in theaters from day one, and it was clear that it was going to rake in the money over the first weekend. Not only did ‘Chhaava’ meet expectations, but it also exceeded them, leaving everyone surprised.
However, the real test of a film’s box office success comes on Monday, the first working day of the week, which can often slow down a movie’s momentum after a strong weekend. Fortunately for Vicky Kaushal’s fans, ‘Chhaava’ not only passed this test with flying colors but also delivered an impressive performance.
‘Chhaava’ Conquers Monday
‘Chhaava’ roared into its first Monday at the box office, maintaining a strong level of performance after collecting Rs 121 crore over the weekend. Sunday’s collection was a whopping Rs 49 crore. According to Monday’s trade reports, the earnings of ‘Chhaava’ saw a decline of about 50% compared to Sunday, with the film collecting a net amount of Rs 24 crore. This brings the total earnings of ‘Chhaava’ to over Rs 145 crore in just 4 days, making it the biggest Bollywood film of the year so far, surpassing Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sky Force’ which collected Rs 130 crores.
Breaking Records
The film ‘Chhaava’ has been receiving immense respect and admiration in Maharashtra, particularly because of its theme centered around Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. This craze has led ‘Chhaava’ to break the record of Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’. In the MovieMax cinema chain, which has more theaters, ‘Chhaava’ collected a gross of about Rs 2.04 crore on Sunday, surpassing ‘Pushpa 2’ (Hindi)’s collection of Rs 2.01 crore on its first Sunday. ‘Chhaava’ collected over Rs 23 crore in Maharashtra on its first Sunday, compared to ‘Pushpa 2’ (Hindi)’s Rs 21.44 crore. This makes ‘Chhaava’ the film with the highest daily collection record in the Maharashtra circuit.
Heading Towards the 200 Crore Mark
With ‘Chhaava’ earning Rs 145 crores in the first 4 days, and considering the trend of advance booking and public enthusiasm, it’s likely that the film will continue to collect around Rs 20 crores until Thursday. If the collection doesn’t dip significantly on working days, ‘Chhaava’ is set to cross the 200 crore mark at the box office within its first week, a testament to its unstoppable momentum and the audience’s love for the film.
