Recent Developments in Cricket Leadership
The cricket world has seen significant changes in leadership recently. Jay Shah, the son of the Union Home Minister and newly appointed ICC Chairman, visited Ayodhya, where he performed darshan of Ram Lalla and reviewed the construction details. He also offered prayers at Hanumangarhi. His visit and activities have been widely shared on social media, with many images and videos becoming viral.
New Advisory Board for World Cricket Connects
In other news, Jay Shah has been included in the new advisory board of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), World Cricket Connects, along with Sourav Ganguly. The board will consist of 13 members, presided over by former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara. Other members include Graeme Smith, Andrew Strauss, and England women’s team captain Heather Knight. This new board replaces the World Cricket Committee, which was formed in 2006.

Impact of the World Cricket Committee
The World Cricket Committee, although an independent body with no formal powers, has made significant recommendations that have been adopted by the ICC. Some notable examples include the introduction of DRS, the World Test Championship, day-night Test cricket, and the shot clock to improve slow over-rate. The last meeting of the World Cricket Committee was held in the summer of last year, and it is expected that the new World Cricket Connects Advisory Board will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future of cricket.
