The countdown to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has begun, with six out of eight participating teams announcing their squads. Nick Pothas, the assistant coach of the Bangladesh cricket team, has resigned from his position, effective January 17. Pothas joined the Bangladesh coaching staff in 2023.

Nick Pothas was initially expected to continue as the assistant coach until 2026. However, he has cited personal reasons for his sudden departure. Shahryar Nafees, in charge of Bangladesh Cricket Operation, confirmed the news, stating that Pothas’s contract was until 2026 but he left due to personal reasons. In a statement, Pothas expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with the Bangladesh cricket team, highlighting the records broken and history created during his tenure. He concluded by wishing the team the best for the future.
Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy schedule
The Bangladesh team is part of Group-A in the Champions Trophy 2025, with their first match scheduled against India on February 20 at the Dubai ground. They will then face New Zealand on February 24 at the Rawalpindi ground, followed by their final group-stage match against hosts Pakistan at the same venue.
