Unsold in IPL, Dewald Brevis Makes a Statement in SA20
Brevis’s Brilliant Half-Century Sets the Stage
Despite being overlooked in the IPL auction, Dewald Brevis made a stunning impact in the inaugural match of SA20. Playing for MI Cape Town, Brevis scored a remarkable 57 runs off just 29 balls, including two fours and six sixes, at an impressive strike rate of 196. Although he couldn’t sustain his momentum and eventually got out, his innings provided crucial support to his team.
MI Cape Town Secures a Dominant 97-Run Victory
MI Cape Town, which was struggling at one point, was rescued by Brevis’s explosive innings. The team managed to post a competitive total of 174/7 in 20 overs. In response, Sunrisers East Cape was bowled out for a mere 77 runs, failing to utilize their full quota of 20 overs. This led to a convincing 97-run win for MI Cape Town.
Brevis’s IPL Performance: A Mixed Bag
In his two-season IPL stint, Brevis has played only 10 matches, scoring 230 runs at an average of 23. While he has shown glimpses of his potential, he is yet to register a century or a half-century in the tournament. This might have contributed to his unsold status in the recent auction. As SA20 progresses, it remains to be seen whether Brevis can maintain his aggressive batting form and prove himself as a valuable asset.
