Security Measures Intensify in Venezuela Ahead of Inauguration
Venezuela is bracing itself for the upcoming inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro, scheduled to take place on January 10. As the event approaches, Maduro has activated a military plan to counter potential disruptions by opposition groups.
Military Deployment and Comprehensive Defense Body
In preparation for the inauguration ceremony, Maduro has ordered the deployment of military and police personnel from across the country. The Comprehensive Defense Body of Venezuela, which was recently activated, comprises all branches of the country’s political power, popular power, the Armed Forces, the militia, and all police forces.
Arrests of Foreign Nationals
Maduro has announced the arrest of seven foreign nationals, described as “mercenaries,” including two US citizens, two Colombians, and three Ukrainians. According to official sources, these arrests bring the total number of detainees to over 120.
