Trump’s Ambitions for US Territory Expansion
Donald Trump’s intentions to expand American territory have become increasingly clear. The president-elect has expressed interest in acquiring Greenland and regaining control of the Panama Canal. When questioned about the possibility of military action to achieve these objectives, Trump remained non-committal, stating that “it could happen that we have to do something.”
Greenland and the Panama Canal
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., recently visited Danish territory, sparking speculation about the president-elect’s intentions. However, the Prime Minister of Greenland, Mette Frederiksen, has made it clear that “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders” and “it is not for sale.”
Regarding the Panama Canal, Trump has been critical of the current tariffs and has suggested that the US should regain control of the waterway. He has also accused China of “basically taking control” of the canal and has proposed that Panama should seek financial assistance from China instead of the US.
Other Key Issues
Trump has also addressed the issue of hostages in the Middle East, warning that “all hell will break loose” if Hamas does not release them before his inauguration. He has also proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which he believes is a “beautiful name.”
The president-elect has also discussed his plans for the US economy, claiming that the country has a low level of inflation. However, this statement has been disputed, with the actual inflation rate being around 2.7%.
Pending Legal Cases
Trump’s pending legal cases have also been a topic of discussion. The president-elect has insulted special prosecutor Jack Smith, who is investigating Trump’s misuse of classified documents and his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 elections. However, it has been announced that Judge Aileen M. Cannon has dismissed the case against Trump, citing the appointment of special prosecutor Jack Smith as unconstitutional.
