Eight Argentines Detained for Drug Trafficking in Punta del Este

A recent operation by the Maldonado Anti-Drug Brigade has led to the detention of eight Argentines, who have been charged with drug trafficking. The individuals, aged between 22 and 31, were arrested in Punta del Este and will serve 120 days of preventive detention.

The Investigation and Arrests

The operation began when police officers noticed a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman acting nervously in the San Rafael area. Upon searching the man, police found four nylon wrappers containing the pink drug, known as Tusi, hidden among his clothes.

The two individuals were detained, and during their arrest, they attempted to dispose of 20 ecstasy pills, which were also seized by the police.

Further Investigation and Seizures

The police continued their investigation, raiding two hotels in Punta del Este. In one hotel, they found pink drugs, precision scales, Argentine money, dollars, a cell phone, and a computer. Five Argentines were detained, with four being charged and one released.

In the second hotel, more drugs, cell phones, and money were seized, and three more Argentines were arrested.

Seized Items and Charges

In total, the Anti-Drug Brigade seized 194 grams of Tusi, 20 grams of ecstasy, 6 grams of crystals, 900 dollars, almost 36 thousand pesos, cell phones, and two vehicles with Argentine license plates. Eight Argentines were charged with drug trafficking, while four others were released.
