India vs Australia 5th Test Sydney: The fifth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is being played on the Sydney grounds. Indian team’s regular captain Rohit Sharma is not playing in this match and Shubman Gill has got a chance in his place in the playing eleven. Jasprit Bumrah is handling the responsibility of captaincy. Bumrah has won the toss in the match and decided to bat first and two days have been played in the match.
The Indian team had scored 185 runs in its first innings. Then Rishabh Pant played the highest innings of 40 runs for Team India. Apart from him, captain Bumrah had contributed 22 runs. After this, the Indian bowlers performed strongly in the first innings against Australia. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took three wickets each. Bumrah and Nitish Reddy took 2-2 wickets. Because of these players, the Australian team was all out for just 180 runs. In this way, on the basis of first innings, the Indian team got a lead of four runs.
Eyes will be on giving big target
But in the second innings also the Indian batsmen played poorly and spoiled the bowling efforts. For Team India, no player could bat sustainably in the top order. Only Rishabh Pant has been able to score a half-century and Team India is struggling by scoring 141 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. The total lead of the Indian team is 145 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are at the crease. In such a situation, the biggest question before everyone is that how many runs should Team India target so that the Australians are not able to chase. If Jadeja and Sundar bat well on the third day of the match tomorrow, Team India can comfortably cross the score of 200 runs. After this, the lower order batsmen will also have to support these two. So that Team India can somehow give a target of more than 250 runs.
Australian team has done wonders in the year 2006
Australia holds the record of chasing the biggest test target at Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia chased the target of 288 runs in the test match against South Africa in 2006. Then Ricky Ponting proved to be the biggest hero for the Australian team and he scored centuries in both the innings. It was because of him that the team was successful in winning the match by 8 wickets.
