Changes in Iga Swiatek’s Tennis Career
Iga Swiatek, the renowned tennis player, has undergone significant changes since her fourth Roland Garros title. Her recent performances have been different from her previous ones, where she would often dominate her opponents. Additionally, she faced a one-month suspension from the ITIA due to a positive test result for trimetazidine on August 12, which was later proven to be accidental and served during the preseason.
A New Coach and a Season Goodbye
Swiatek’s last match was in the quarterfinals of the US Open, where she lost to Jessica Pegula. She ended her season at the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga, marking the end of her partnership with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski. He was replaced by Wim Fissette, who will be guiding Swiatek in her future endeavors.
United Cup Semi-Finals Qualification
Swiatek has led Poland to the semi-finals of the United Cup, with the final phase taking place at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. In her recent match against Katie Boulter, Swiatek displayed her doubts but ultimately emerged victorious. Despite Boulter’s strong start, winning the opening set in a tiebreaker, Swiatek regained her composure and secured a 6-7(4), 6-1, and 6-4 win.
A Challenging Match
The match was intense, with Swiatek needing to stop the game at one point due to a break disadvantage in the tiebreaker round. However, she managed to overcome the challenge and claim victory. Hubert Hurkacz had earlier given Poland the lead by defeating Billy Harris 7-6(3) and 7-5.
