Deadly Gaza Strike Sparks Outrage and Raises Questions Over Humanitarian Zone

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza Strip

A devastating Israeli attack on the Al Mawasi humanitarian zone in the Gaza Strip has resulted in the loss of at least 11 Palestinian lives, including four children and two women. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, according to medical sources.

High-Ranking Officials Among the Victims

Major General Mahmoud Salah, Director General of the Police in southern Gaza, and Hussam Shahwan, director of the General Research Department, were among the victims of the Israeli attack. The police officers who lost their lives were responsible for maintaining order in the area and preventing the looting of humanitarian aid.

Attack on Displaced Persons’ Tent

The Israeli attack occurred at 1:00 (23:00 GMT) on Thursday morning, when an Israeli helicopter targeted a tent of displaced people in the Al Mawasi area. The attack caused a fire in the surrounding tents, where children and adults were sleeping.

Humanitarian Zone in Crisis

The Al Mawasi humanitarian zone, a frequent target of Israeli attacks, has become a hub of makeshift tents where thousands of Gazans are forced to share limited resources. The area lacks basic necessities such as drinking water, electricity, and proper sanitation, leaving residents vulnerable to diseases and infections.

Looting of Humanitarian Aid Trucks

In recent months, the Gazan police have conducted several operations to capture individuals involved in the looting of humanitarian aid trucks entering the enclave. The looting of these trucks has become a growing problem in Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

War Casualties Mount

Since the start of the war in October 2023, the Gaza Ministry of Health has reported that nearly 45,553 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with around 70% of the victims being women and girls. Additionally, over 108,379 people have been injured.
