The electric vehicle came to a stop in front of the hotel’s glass entrance before a massive burst was reported by Sheriff Kevin McMahill of Las Vegas. Video footage shows the stainless steel van-like vehicle parked in the hotel’s driveway, followed by a sudden explosion into flames and subsequent small pyrotechnic-like explosions.

Investigation and Response

Sheriff McMahill confirmed that there was one deceased individual inside the vehicle and seven minor injuries. Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, stated that the company’s entire senior team is investigating the matter. Musk expressed that this incident is unprecedented, saying, “we have never seen anything like this.” He promised to release more details as soon as possible.

Government Involvement

President Joe Biden was informed of the explosion and instructed his team to offer any necessary federal assistance. This incident occurred on the same day that Biden was informed of a car crash in New Orleans, which resulted in at least 10 fatalities. While Sheriff McMahill referenced the New Orleans attack, he did not establish any explicit connection between the two events.
