Tragedy Strikes in La Represa
A devastating incident occurred on January 1 in the La Represa area, where a 17-year-old teenager lost his life in the Pando stream reservoir.
Circumstances Surrounding the Incident
The teenager, who was visiting his father in Canelones from San José, had gone to the reservoir with friends to bathe. Despite his father’s warnings about the dangers of the stream, the young man decided to enter the water along with two others.
According to eyewitnesses, the teenager disappeared from the surface of the water and failed to resurface. His friends, who managed to get out of the water on their own, alerted the authorities, prompting a search and rescue operation.
Search and Recovery Efforts
The Pando firefighters, local police, and prosecutors worked together to locate the missing teenager. Unfortunately, their efforts were met with tragedy when the body was discovered the following morning.
The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of heeding warnings and taking necessary precautions when engaging in water activities.
