Usyk’s New Year’s Eve Celebration in Ukraine
Oleksandr Usyk has returned to Ukraine, where he celebrated New Year’s Eve with various personalities from his country. After defeating Tyson Fury for the second time, the heavyweight king was welcomed back as a hero.
A Message from the President
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his pride in Usyk on social media, saying: “December 31. Welcome home, champion. We are proud of you!”
Usyk’s End-of-Year Message
Usyk published his own end-of-year message, dedicated to his compatriots. He wished them faith in God, miracles, themselves, and their strength, and encouraged unity, tolerance, and love for one another.
A Privileged Position
Usyk received permission to continue his boxing career after a period in Ukraine at the beginning of the war, allowing him to support his compatriots from a privileged position.
A Night with the Klitschko Brothers
In the evening, Usyk joined the Klitschko brothers, who shared a FaceTime call with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wladimir Klitschko uploaded an image of the video call and wrote about their “legendary conference” to have fun and laugh.
A Message of Hope
Klitschko also expressed his hope for real change in 2025, amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He wished everyone a healthy 2025 and acknowledged the difficulties of living with the “new normal” of missile and drone strikes.
