Spain’s Under-20 Women’s Team Falls Short of European Gold
The Spanish Under-20 women’s basketball team secured a silver medal in the European Championship, losing to France 83-75 in the final. This is Spain’s fourth silver medal in the competition, with the team having won the championship nine times in the last 12 years.
The Spanish team came out strong in the first half, with Awa Fam dominating the game and leading the team to a 41-36 halftime lead. However, the French team adjusted their defense and responded with a 14-5 run in the third quarter, taking the lead and never looking back.
Despite the loss, the Spanish team had a strong performance throughout the tournament, winning all their previous matches with an average margin of victory of 47 points. Fam was the standout player for Spain, scoring 20 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and dishing out three assists in 35 minutes.
