The Spanish basketball team is on the verge of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, with the men’s team facing a crucial challenge in the final stage of the competition. According to Elisa Aguilar, the president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), the team is confident and ready to take on the challenge.
"We are confident, we are going for the victory and we will be in the final," Aguilar said.
The Spanish team has already qualified for the women’s tournament, with the women’s team securing a spot in the Pre-Olympic Games from Sopron to Paris. The men’s team, on the other hand, is facing a new challenge, with Aguilar acknowledging that the reality has changed and the team needs to adapt to the circumstances.
"We give value to every game we play. The reality has changed and we had good years, while now it is different. But we are a great team, many were EuroBasket champions and the teams that are good, they are the ones who adapt to the circumstances," Aguilar explained.
The team is also facing a challenge in terms of player selection, with Aguilar highlighting the importance of the coach’s decision. "The coach decides, and sometimes that changes. In our competitions we promote the national team, and now we are talking with the ACB to be able to contribute other concepts," she said.
Aguilar also emphasized the importance of the 3×3 team, which is heading to the Games to compete for a medal. "Hopefully a medal. It tastes like heaven. And we don’t have a ceiling, but we are respectful. We face anyone and they are very good, but we are too," she claimed.
