Alastair Cook felt ‘regret’ after watching Jaiswal’s 12 sixes, breaking the record of 161 Tests in an innings!

Yashasvi Jaiswal played an explosive innings in the third Test against England in Rajkot and scored 214* runs in India’s second innings. The Indian opener won everyone’s hearts with his innings. Jaiswal hit a total of 12 sixes in this innings, something that Alastair Cook, who played 161 Tests, regretted. With this innings, the Indian opener also equaled the record of hitting most sixes in a Test innings.

While speaking to TNT Sports about Jaiswal, Cook said, “I think Yashasvi hit more sixes in this innings than in my entire Test career.”

Let us tell you that Jaiswal scored 12 sixes while Alastair Cook scored only 11 sixes in his Test career. Cook is one of the great batsmen of Test cricket. Cook played a total of 161 Tests in his career, in which he only scored 11 sixes. However, the former England batsman hit 1,442 fours during this period.

With 12 sixes, Jaiswal was the Indian batsman to hit the most sixes in a Test innings. Apart from this, he equaled Wasim Akram in terms of most sixes in a Test innings in world cricket. Now Jaiswal, along with Wasim Akram, became the batsman to score the most sixes in a Test innings. Furthermore, the Indian opener became the first batsman to hit 20 sixes in a Test series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his Test debut in July 2023, has only played 7 red-ball matches so far. Jaiswal has done wonders himself in the first few games. The Indian opener has scored 861 runs in 13 innings of 7 matches at an average of 71.75. During this period he scored three centuries and two half-centuries as well as two double-centuries, with his high score being 214* runs.
