
The Consul of Mexico in New York, Jorge Islas, announced that one of the suspected armed attackers who killed Mexican Obed Beltrán Sánchez during a confrontation with a rival gang in the New York subway has already been arrested. Through his social networks, the diplomat reported on the communication he had with the New York Police Department, which is carrying out the investigation into these events of last Tuesday.
“I have been informed by senior officers of the New York Police Department that they have just arrested a suspect responsible for the murder of Obed Beltrán. They continue to investigate until they find everyone responsible. “There will be no impunity.”

Beltrán Sánchez, 35, originally from Puebla, died of gunshot wounds to the chest and face in the shooting in a New York subway station that also injured five people. The Mexican Foreign Ministry is in contact with the relatives of this migrant, whose remains could be repatriated in the coming days following the completion of consular administrative procedures.
Authorities arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the violent shooting at the Mount Eden Avenue train station. Police sources say a crash occurred during rush hour in the Bronx that left an innocent bystander dead and five other people injured this week.
The teenager, believed to be one of three gunmen involved in Monday’s shooting at 4:30 p.m. (local time), was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force in the Bronx. He is currently facing charges related to the incident.

Deadly chaos attributed to a gang dispute sent shockwaves through the community. The tragic incident involved two rival groups, resulting in a verbal brawl which quickly escalated into a physical altercation on board the train. On arrival at Mount Eden station a shot was fired in the carriage, sending the crowd into panic.
Joseph Kenny, chief of NYPD detectives, described the scene as “chaotic” as passengers tried to leave the platform amid the confusion. As for the victims, in addition to the deceased passerby, a 14-year-old girl, a 29-year-old woman and two men aged 71 and 28 were injured, all of whom are in a stable condition in local hospitals.
