Shakib al-Hassan
A major update on the issue has come to light from the perspective of Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has said that a problem has been detected in the retina of Shakib's left eye due to which he is experiencing difficulty in vision. Shakib had said after the 2023 ODI World Cup that he was having difficulty seeing. After a visit to the ophthalmologist, it turned out that there was a problem with his retina. Regarding this, BCB chief physician Debashish Chaudhary said that Shakib was suffering from extrafoveal central serous chorioretinopathy (CSR) of the left eye.
This problem leads to vision problems
BCB's senior physician Debashish Choudhary, in his statement, gave more information on extrafoveal central serous chorioretinopathy, a disease that affects the retina and leads to vision problems. In Shakib's case, the medical team dealing with his problem is currently hoping for better treatment. At the same time, BCB has also appealed to fans and the cricket world to respect Shakib's privacy during this time so that he can fully concentrate on his health. Additionally, the board said it will provide any further updates on this issue from Shakib.
Trouble hitting
Shakib Al Hasan is not yet completely out of the current Bangladesh Premier League season and is expected to continue playing in the tournament while he gets under control of his eye problem. When this happens, he can play a lower order when batting. His entire focus will be on bowling where he doesn't have much problem.
