A young man was caught pretending to be his girlfriend during an entrance exam at an Indian university.
The trap was uncovered when officials at the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences used a biometric device to verify identity.
This is how Angrez Singh was discovered after he arrived at the salon in women's clothing, completely shaved and made up.
The 26-year-old had also stuck his own photo disguised as a woman onto the document of his 34-year-old girlfriend Paramjeet Kaur.
“The candidate managed to enter the examination room. However, the officials became suspicious as the picture of Paramjeet Kaur in the application form did not match the face of the candidate in question,” the officials said.
The Indian Express portal revealed that the young man forged several documents in the name of his girlfriend after she lost the exam.
The young man was arrested
The officers called the police and the young man was arrested at the public school where the entrance exam was taking place.
This means the 26-year-old has to deal with an identity theft case and his girlfriend could also be charged.
Angrez managed to obtain his release on bail, but the judiciary will continue to investigate him to find out how he obtained these false identification documents.
University Center Vice-Chancellor Rajeev Sood said that this is not the first time a case like this has been registered in which a person impersonates one of the applicants.
“We have developed a new medium where facial recognition and biometrics are essential before testing. And the defendant in question failed in both biometrics and facial recognition,” he said.
