
The dance organization “Turangami Repertory Dance Theater” will celebrate its tenth anniversary on January 31 next year. To mark this occasion, the team has organized various events throughout the year. Turangami is the first initiative to celebrate its tenth anniversary to offer dance lessons to underprivileged children. This month, dance classes for children from the Karail region began in the capital.
He said that this dance class will continue until March next year. 33 children are taking part in this dance training titled “Nayantara”. There are 33 schools for disadvantaged children in Karail.
Nayantara is a professional dance class in Turangami where students are taught stretching, yoga and Pilates in addition to dance. In addition, there are different types of games to increase students’ confidence and communication skills. In addition to lessons in traditional dance, there are dance history, theoretical discussions about dances at home and abroad, reading and discussion on literature and history.
Dancer Pooja Sengupta, artistic director of Turangami, plans and leads the training. He is supported by a four-person team from Turangami. Turangami has taken the initiative for this dance class titled Nayantara with the aim of empowering the children of low-income workers of the society and developing the future generation of the country into tasteful and art conscious citizens.
In 2019, Turangami School of Dance became the first dance training institution in Bangladesh and Pooja Sengupta personally became a member of UNESCO’s International Dance Council. Since its founding in 2014, the group has been working to develop its own dance style and achieve professionalism in dance in Bangladesh.
