The story of underground rappers living in slums has been brilliantly brought to screen by Zoya Akhtar. Everyone highly praised Zoya’s work. But Zoya Akhtar’s father Javed Akhtar did not trust his daughter. Yes, he felt that Zoya Akhtar would not be able to do such films. Javed Akhtar himself revealed this.
While speaking to Aaj Tak, Javed Akhtar shared that when she was making Gully Boy, I wondered how she would do it. Hey, you live in a bandstand and vacation in places like London, America. How do you want to know all this? That’s what I thought, I didn’t have the courage to speak in front of myself. Javed Akhtar further says that when I saw the film, I felt like I had spent my entire life in a slum. It has drained the slum. Every single detail of the slum was presented in the best possible way.
These days Zoya is in the headlines for her upcoming film The Archies. The film will be released on Netflix on December 7th. It is based on America’s famous comic book “The Archies”. Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda will be making their Bollywood debut with this film.
