Meta recently announced a new feature for WhatsApp, 60-second instant video messages. It is one of the best news that has recently arrived in the most popular messaging app in the world and also in Portugal.
The format is familiar and can be used as if we had already recorded voice clips, for example. Please note that these video messages are recorded and shared directly on the Meta group platform. The novelty is being implemented even in Portugal.
Video messages do not officially reach Portugal

A few years ago, we saw that voice messages on WhatsApp changed the way people communicate by offering a fast and secure way to share your voice.
In fact, audio clips and voice files are very popular and are available in all apps in the Meta group, from WhatsApp to Facebook Messenger.
Now, Meta introduces a new feature: instant video messaging. Indeed, from now on we can start recording and sharing short personal videos directly in a WhatsApp conversation.
It is a quick, simple and familiar way to illustrate a message, or rather convey an idea through the messaging application.
It is the latest feature to come to WhatsApp
Video messaging is a real-time way to respond to conversations on 60 seconds. The best of all? Sending a video message is as simple as sending a voice message. It’s the same mechanic as voice clips, now with video.
In practice, just tap to switch video mode and hold to record. In addition, we can also slide up to lock and record the video with the hands-free option.
60 seconds of video to illustrate WhatsApp messages
Videos will automatically play without sound when opened in a conversation and tapping on the video will start the sound. Video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to keep them safe.
It should be noted that video messaging has started to roll out and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. In other words, they will gradually and staggeredly reach users of the Android and iOS application in Portugal.
Finally, we can see Mark Zuckerberg himself, CEO of Meta, demonstrating the new feature through Facebook, also announced by the instant communication platform itself on its official blog.
