Nothing has been clarified yet regarding the 2023 Asian Cup. After this, the World Cup calendar has come to be played. The Asian Cricket Council is in talks with Pakistan and Sri Lanka to finalize the venue for publishing the schedule. The program may be released this week. It is being delayed due to the venue.
Pakistan’s Lahore and Sri Lanka’s Dambulla are considered favorites to host the match. Previously Colombo was the choice in Sri Lanka but the plan has been changed keeping in mind the monsoon season. However, by this week all may be clear regarding the Sri Lankan venue.
Speaking to ‘InsideSport’, a BCCI official said: “There are some last minute details that have not been ironed out yet. The tentative schedule is shared with the members. It should be available by this week. There is a problem in Colombo due to the monsoon. We could expect an India-Pakistan game in Colombo, but rain could be a problem.”
Under the hybrid model, Pakistan will host four matches, with all remaining matches to be played in Sri Lanka. The matches will take place in Lahore, Pakistan. The tournament will be played from August 31 to September 17. In the same tournament, the India Pakistan match will be played in Sri Lanka. But the final decision is yet to be made.
Tell them that Pakistan’s new president, Zaka Ashraf, raised questions about the hybrid model. Zaka Ashraf told a press conference: “The first problem is that I have rejected the hybrid model in the past because I don’t agree with it. The Asian Cricket Council board had decided that it would take place in Pakistan, so we should organize it.”
An official said: “This is not about changing the hybrid plan. Don’t forget that it is the PCB that requested the hybrid model. They can change their stance with each new president, but it doesn’t work at the will of one person. Logistics, broadcasters, among other things that are involved”.
