Cuba, Mexico and Bermuda achieved victory, while the Dominican Republic and Barbados tied this Saturday, in the third day of the women’s field hockey that takes place in the Parque del Este in Santo Domingo, sub-site of the Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023.
CUBA 4-1 TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
The Cuban team continued this Saturday with their foot on the accelerator and beat the Trinidad and Tobago team 4-1.
Cheila Darias scored twice and led the way for Helec Carta and Jennifer Martinez, piercing the Trinidadian net once each.
Trinidad and Tobago reacted with a goal from Zene Henry, but time was not enough for them to mount a comeback against the Cubans.
MEXICO 5-0 JAMAICA
Mexico implemented its law to beat Jamaica 5-0 in the continuation of women’s field hockey.
The Mexicans, who added their second win with a tie, had goals from Katerine Rivera, Arlette Estrada, Grecia Mendoza, Sofía Pérez and Dayana Cuevas, thus highlighting the collectiveness of their game.
The Jamaicans again failed to score and have lost all three of their games without scoring so far in the competition.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2-2 BARBADOS
The Dominican Republic and Barbados did not give up in their aspirations to achieve victory and ended tied at two goals in the match corresponding to the third day of the women’s field hockey.
The Dominicans, who now have two wins and a draw on their record, were led by Agustina Birocho and Cecilia Oflaherti, who scored the goals in the match.
Nakira Downes carried the offensive weight of the Barbadians, scoring the two goals that allowed them to come out with the tie for the second consecutive game, along with a victory.
BERMUDA 4-0 PUERTO RICO
The Puerto Rican team continues without tasting the taste of victory in the women’s field hockey tournament, losing 4-0 this Saturday against Bermuda.
Maha Clarke, Alyssa De Silva, Georgia Harris and Yvonna Osborne pierced the net against the Puerto Ricans to give Bermuda its first win in three games.
The Puerto Ricans have two defeats and a tie in their record so far in the competition.
The field hockey day continues this Sunday with the men’s game between Mexico and El Salvador, scheduled for 10:00 in the morning.
