The celebration of the time trial of the Slovenian National Road Cycling Championships left us with a curious image: that of Tadej Pogacar and Urska Zigart sharing the podium after proclaiming themselves champions of the modality in the male and female categories respectively.
Pogacar and Zigart form one of the few couples in the peloton in which both are dedicated to active cycling, demonstrating their passion for cycling in joint outings when training and also when they compete in competitions. In recent weeks, without going any further, Pogacar has not stopped supporting Zigart on his social networks while he was competing and he was still recovering from his wrist injury.
“Urska Zigart’s boyfriend”
In recent weeks Pogacar and Zigart have also been in the news after Zigart was on the brink of winning the third stage of the Tour of Switzerland female after being hunted by the squad in the last meters as the last survivor of the escape.
A performance that a Belgian outlet picked up with the headline ‘Pogacar’s girlfriend, hunted 75 meters from the finish line in Switzerland’, which generated great indignation in the women’s peloton.
A fact that both Pogacar and Zigart have taken with humor after Canadian outlet Canadian Cycling Mag reported Pogacar’s return to competition with the headline “Urska Zigart’s boyfriend will run his last race before the Tour de France in Slovenia”, news that both Zigart and Pogacar shared on their social mediademonstrating that love also rolls on a bicycle and that both Zigart and Pogacar have names to be known in the peloton with something more than “the boyfriend or girlfriend of…”.
