Volleyball recruits 173 talents in “Operation Height Camp

A total of 173 youngsters and talented youngsters were welcomed by the Dominican Volleyball Federation during the “Operation Height Camp” held last weekend in the pavilion of that discipline at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

Professor Nelson Ramírez, director of the Men’s Volleyball National Teams Program, explained that they are between the ages of 14 and 21 and were subjected to rigorous evaluations by the group of doctors who care for the members of the different men’s national preselections.

He thanked the support provided by the Norceca Confederation, which supplied part of the balls, as well as the Ministry of Sports for having covered the food and Gatorade, which supplied all the hydration.

The medical staff is directed by Dr. César Andrés Báez and the medical history of each athlete, musculoskeletal and anthropometric measurements were evaluated. The psychological evaluation was carried out by Mr. Pedro Chanlatte, from the CRESO Program.

“We are very happy because the idea was to capture 80 and we ended up capturing more than double,” he said.

the technical director of the project, Alexander Gutiérrez, pleasantly impressed because very talented players showed up at the camp and were technically more advanced than we expected.

“We are going to have a long-term reservoir that guarantees development as long as we have the necessary support because most of these guys come from the interior,” he said.

Gutiérrez was assisted by Dante Mañon, Amaury Martínez, Francisco Lerebours, Wilson Sánchez, Rómulo Hernández, Sally Ramón Núñez, Elvis –Dagonín– Contreras, Alexander Massó, José Espinal, Jonathan Mercedes, Moisés de los Santos, the therapist Roberto Núñez and Henrry Puello, Technical Director of the FEDOVOLI.

In the opening ceremony, the president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation, Ramón Alexis García, expressed his joy at the number of young people who want to fulfill their dream of being part of one of the national teams, which at the same time would give them the opportunity to obtain scholarships that allow him to study and have a profession after the life of an athlete.

A camp is planned for the month of July with the aim of recruiting liberos and setters.
