With the presence of goalkeeper Agustín Rossi, the Boca delegation will travel this Sunday to the city of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, with a view to meeting Racing Club for the International Super Cup. The xeneize coach, Hugo Ibarra, resolved to summon 30 players to participate in the roster that will go to Asian territory with the purpose of winning the first official trophy of the 2023 season.
In this way, 27-year-old Rossi, who already has his arrival guaranteed (he signed a pre-contract) at Flamengo in Brazil starting next July 1st, will once again be available to the coach from Boca, after having been provisionally left out of the friendly last Friday in San Juan against Everton de Viña del Mar, when the xeneize team equalized without goals. So far, Ibarra has used all four of his available goalkeepers, as Rossi and Javier García saved a time each in the draw against Independiente, while Sergio Romero and Leonardo Brey did the same against Everton.
Rossi signed a contract with the Rio de Janeiro institution until December 2027 and is negotiating an eventual departure from the club in the coming days. However, this particular situation, apparently, will not deprive the former goalkeeper of Lanús and Chacarita from entering the consideration of DT Ibarra, who would even think of him as a starter in the clash with the “Academy”.
Defenders Marcos Rojo and Nicolás Figal will also be on the travel list, despite the fact that both will not be available to act either as they continue to recover from physical discomfort. The same will happen with midfielder Martín Payero, who withdrew last Friday with severe ankle trauma in the match against the Chilean team at the San Juan Bicentenario stadium.
