Dehradun: The city of Joshi Math in India is slowly sinking into the ground, the residents are seeing the houses destroyed with their wet eyes, the frightened residents are leaving the area and moving to safer places.
Joshi Math, also known as Jyotir Math, is located in the hilly district of Chamoli in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, at an altitude of over 6,000 feet.
The speed of Joshi Mutt sinking is increasing rapidly, people are scared to see their houses sinking and cracks in the houses. Some of the affected people are staying with their relatives while some are staying in government camps.
According to the latest report of the Indian media, the rate of land subsidence is increasing rapidly in the last 12 days. Yesterday, the local government also took several decisions to provide relief to the affected people.

The number of buildings that have suffered cracks due to subsidence is currently 760 and 147 of them have been declared extremely unsafe and dangerous.
The reasons behind the cracks and sinking of houses in Joshi Mutt are not clear, but the residents of the area have blamed the construction of roads and tunnels for the nearby hydroelectric project.
On the other hand, a report has also said that this region is prone to earthquakes, many disasters have occurred here in recent years, according to experts, the reason for this is the melting of glaciers and haphazard constructions.
