Miguel Ángel López added his first victory in this 2023. He won the Clásica de Villeta with his new team, Team Medellín, whom he thanked for the opportunity they gave him to continue his career in our country after leaving Astana for allegedly being involved in a doping issue.
“I am happy to be sharing with the people here in Colombia, it is an honor for me to be in Villeta. Grateful to Team Medellín for opening the doors for me, trust me and give me the opportunity. It’s cool to feel the affection of the people again”, Superman told the media at the end of the Villeta circuit.
López, doping and jobs in 2022
The Colombian cyclist reiterated that he has no problems with the issue of the doping of the doctor Marcos Maynar in which he was involved the previous year and for which he had to look for a new team for this season.
“Last year was difficult and complicated. I have no problem with doping. Now I enjoy with my family and Team Medellín, that is the most important thing”, added Superman López in his statements.
Now, what is coming for Miguel Ángel will be to continue working with Team Medellín. However, he remembered what those months of last year were in which he did not train while resolving the situation in which he was involved. Concentration was the key for the runner to keep going.
“We’re ok. They have been difficult weeks, at the end of 2022 I could not train, I had to be focused and working ”, concluded. It should be noted that the Astana team terminated Superman’s contract for “new elements that show the probable connection of Miguel Ángel López with Dr. Marcos Maynar”.
