Computers and peripherals are among the best-selling second-hand products in Spain and one of the main reasons is that the estimated savings that they represent compared to a new product is 40%.
On the occasion of World Informatics Day, which is held on December 9, the company specializing in buying and selling second-hand products Cash Converters has published a study on the second-hand computer market in Spain.

As of November 15, the date on which the sales data for this report were extracted, more computers had already been sold than in all of 2021, to which should be added the sales of the Christmas campaign , strong time for the second-hand market.

The average price today is around €227, Although it is important to note that the company has computer products from €50 to several thousand euros depending on the model and state of the product.
It has also been detected increase in the purchase of laptops. More and more people go to second-hand stores to get rid of computers that they no longer use in exchange for an amount of money. Regarding the brands of laptops that sell the most second-hand, the most representative weight of sales over the total is HPwith 28.28%, followed by Lenovowith 19.89%, Manzana (10.94%), Acer (10.15%) and Asus (10.09%).
Laptops are great protagonists of the second hand, but so are the tablets, desktop computers and peripheralscomputer accessories such as mice, headphones, keyboards, monitors, digital pens, gamepads or joysticks, chargers, speakers, printers.
In the words of Jose Antonio Fernandez Ruiz-Ruano, IT product manager at Cash Converters Spain and Portugal: “These sales increases are an indication that more and more customers are aware that the purchase of a technological product does not necessarily have to be associated with a large financial outlay. They are the ones who have realized that they would not take advantage of the current hardware in daily tasks and, ultimately, nobody needs a Ferrari to go buy bread, even if we also sell them. The customers who come to sell their products to Cash Converters have increased considerably; on the one hand we find those who try to make their individual economy profitable by obtaining extra income from products they do not use and on the other hand we have more and more people aware of a more sustainable way of consuming”.
All Cash Converters points of sale are progressively becoming Green Points for electronic products. Through an agreement with the ECOLEC Foundation and within the environmental sustainability strategy, Cash Converters customers can go to their nearest store to deposit their electronic equipment in the recycling bins. So far this year, Cash Converters has managed to collect 2,598KG of electronic waste.
