The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) reported this Thursday the collection of RD$106.1 million from the five public auctions it carried out, in 2022.
The institution reported that these goods were declared abandoned, coming from ports and airports in the country, after exhausting the due legal process.
In the five auctions carried out through the Dominican Agribusiness Exchange (BARD), the DGA received:RD$14.2 million(february);RD$18.4 million(March);RD$26.3 million(June);RD$20.9 million(August) andRD$26.1 million (November).
In the 2018-2019 period, revenue from auctions amounted to RD$98.6 million, from October 2020 to date, the income for this concept is RD$273.5 millionwhich is equivalent in absolute terms to RD$174.9 million more, which represents a growth of 177.37%.
The collecting entity, through its Auction Department, informed that, from now on, bids will be made with a frequency of three months, complying with the new Customs Law No. 168-21.
Likewise, the institution announced the importance of these operations for the entity, since the law establishes that the duties and taxes not paid when the merchandise enters our country are recovered.
The auction merchandise included: parts and used parts for vehicles, motorcycles, four wheels, clothing, led luminaires, machine
for filling boxes and their parts, bicycles, ceramic tiles, new and used tires, new car batteries, parts for household appliances.
Also, consoles for air conditioners, threads and fabric, raw material for detergent, various clothing, children’s clothing, disposable gowns for clinical use, a machine to repair tires, parts for household appliances, electric walkways, bicycles, heat shrink plastic application equipment. for boxes of aseptic containers, condenser for refrigeration room, power plant, hair care products, among other merchandise.
The process began by publishing a notice in written media of national circulation on different days, in accordance with the provisions of Customs Law No. 168-21 in its chapter VII On the auction of merchandise, articles from 121 to 136, for the regime of Customs, with which merchants, importers and organized companies, legally established in the country, as well as the general public, were invited to participate.
Then the goods were exhibited, prior to operations, in the DGA auction warehouse, in the ports of Haina Oriental and Multimodal Caucedo, during business hours.
