The Dutch employment agency Unique is the first employment agency in the Netherlands metaverse entered! In the ‘Uniqueverse‘, candidates can uniquely map their talents and skills and connect with recruiters. Crypto Insiders asked Unique about the thinking behind this project.
‘Unique looks further and the metaverse is part of it’
In the Uniqueverse, candidates get the chance to come into contact with recruiters anonymously and digitally. Through an avatar they can apply for jobs in the metaverse. Because it is anonymous, the process can be completely unbiased, a welcome development that fits this time.
We asked Unique’s managing director, Mandy Stevens, about a number of things about this new project. Applying digitally is of course already quite normal these days. What exactly does the metaverse aspect add to this?
“Although the shape seems the same, what matters is the thought behind it. According to unique, you can apply without a CV and on the basis of skills and qualities, without primarily looking at completed studies and work experience. In the Uniqueverse you collect a Uniqueverse passport in a gamified way with a visualization of your hard and soft skills.”
Stevens adds that the metaverse also offers the option to digitally “attend courses and interact with other users.” According to her, this makes it much bigger than applying for a job via a platform such as Google Meet, for example.
Unique’s metaverse answers Gen Z’s question
Especially after the pandemic, our work, and also applying for it, increasingly takes place in the digital world. Unique also notes that “new generations of employees are no longer waiting for long application forms, resumes and cover letters.” In addition, the fact that Gen Z (read, younger generations) is increasingly visual.
“With the Uniqueverse we will investigate whether applying a metaverse can be a solution to the problems we know in the labor market.”
The Uniqueverse is built on the metaverse platform Ravel, a web3 company from Amsterdam that also built in the metaverse for the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). “The Ravel platform was chosen because it is accessible to visit and can easily connect to our existing candidate journey,” Stevens said in her response to Crypto Insiders.
