They will subsidize rice production with $1,550 million

The Government will grant RD$1,550 million to rice producers in the next few daysto guarantee rice production in 2023.

This was reported by Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruzduring a meeting with representatives of the National Rice Commission (CONA).

"The government headed by President Luis Abinader will allocate an additional RD$1,550 million to the sector in the coming days fertilizer subsidiesin order to continue to guarantee efficient and high-quality production of cereal".

Cruz, head of the agricultural ministry, also announced that the Agricultural Cabinet will deliver RD$50 million for certified seeds and the construction of 800 kilometers of local roads for freeso that rice producers work in favor of the food sovereignty of the Dominican population.

“Once again our president reaffirms that he is working in favor of farm workers, in order to continue guaranteeing your profitability and the food security of Dominicans,” he said.

Rubén Sosa, rice farmerexpressed that there is no danger in production of rice in Bajo Yaque and Castañuela de Montecristi, despite the weather presented this year.

At the end of the meeting, Limber Cruz congratulated the producers and merchants of Juma, to whom he offered a Christmas lunch.
