Bollywood actress and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar has often been seen speaking out for women’s welfare. They have now been added by the United Nations Development Program to its Global Plan on Women’s Rights and Security. In which the actress has gone ahead to tell women about important social work.
According to the IANS news agency, Manushi Chhillar spoke openly about women’s rights. “Violence against women has been a harsh reality in society. Women have been socially conditioned from childhood to live with it,” she said.
Manushi further added: “It is an honor and a privilege to be associated with UNDP on such a pervasive issue in our society. I have always stood up for women’s rights in India and gender violence is an unfortunate reality. It is very important to remove from the ground level.
Manushi further added, “Through this small effort, we’re trying to make everyone aware of the consequences of violence and encourage them to speak out against it, although it will help change people’s mindsets. It’s going to take a lot of time and effort, but we have to take our first step in the right direction very carefully, which is very important.”
The actress made her Bollywood debut earlier this year with the film “Samrat Prithviraj” opposite superstar Akshay Kumar. She now she has completed the shooting of the movie “Tehran” with the action star John Abraham.
