US considers extradition of Bankman-Fried for questioning

In the wake of the bankruptcy of the FTX crypto exchange, US and Bahamian authorities are reportedly discussing the possibility of returning Sam Bankamn-Fried (SBF) to the United States (US) for questioning.

Bankman-Fried is currently in the Bahamas

Since the FTX incident, it has become known that Bankman-Fried and other key people of the FTX exchange are in the Bahamas. Here they are also directly supervised by local authorities.

Earlier, some rumors surfaced that Bankman-Fried would like to flee to Dubai. However, Dubai has signed an agreement with the US, in which all fugitives who want to move to Dubai can either be detained or sent back immediately.

It is also known that Bahamian securities regulators and the financial investigators have launched an investigation into the situation surrounding the fall of FTX for possible criminal misconduct. In addition, the financial authorities in Turkey have also launched an investigation into the cryptocurrency exchange.

Possible extradition to the US

FTX was officially filed for bankruptcy on November 11, after which Bankman-Fried immediately stepped down as CEO of the crypto company. By now, FTX could be liable to more than a million creditors.

Still, many people think that Bankman-Fried will suffer relatively few consequences for his actions. For this reason, a petition has been launched, which has already been signed by some 4,000 people, demanding that a formal investigation be launched into his actions within the entire FTX case.

Since the exchange went up in flames, US lawmakers, including the White House, have called for tighter crypto regulation. It is not yet certain whether Bankman-Fried will actually be extradited to the US, but the possibility is increasing.
