iOS 16 lets you choose Dvorak-optimized keyboard: do you know what it is?

iOS 16 adds a new keyboard layout called Dvorak on iPhone, giving users an alternative to the standard QWERTY layout.

The Dvorak keyboard is designed so that two-handed typing was faster and more ergonomic than QWERTY.

It was patented by August Dvorak in 1936 as a design that reduces finger movement by placing all vowels in the center line on the left side of the keyboard, while commonly used consonants are placed on the right side.

The Dvorak keyboard layout can be enabled in the Settings app under General → Keyboard → English → Dvorakalong with the existing QWERTY, AZERTY and QWERTZ options.

Dvorak is only available for the English languagesince in other languages the frequencies of the letters are different and, in addition, there are characters that do not exist in English.

The Spanish variant, created by Ignacio Fernandez Galvanis very similar to the original, the main differences being the incorporation of the key Ñ and that the H and R positions are swapped.
