Arajet inaugurates air route between Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic

The low-cost airline Arajet began this Monday its direct flights between San José, Costa Rica, and Santo DomingoDominican Republic, with four weekly frequencies, informed the authorities.

The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and Arajet detailed that the direct routes will take place on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

There is an important market to and from the island where travelers are combined for tourism, with families and businesses. Likewise, it opens up countless possibilities for connections with many Caribbean destinations that we are sure will strengthen Arajet’s operations to our country,” said Costa Rican Tourism Minister William Rodríguez.

According to the authorities, Costa Ricans who fly with Arajet enjoy tropical beaches minutes from Las Americas International Airport, among which Boca Chica, Bayahibe, Punta Cana and Samaná stand out. They will also be able to try the Dominican gastronomic offer in local restaurants and visit the Colonial City, the oldest in Latin America.

“At Arajet we seek to strengthen commercial, tourist, cultural ties, as well as promote economic development opportunities between the two nations. We want more Costa Ricans to come to know the tourist offer of our country and that more Dominicans discover every corner of Costa Rica, traveling non-stop and with really low prices”, said the president of Arajet, Víctor Pacheco Méndez.

The tourism is one of the main engines of the Costa Rican economy. Before the pandemic, this country of 5.1 million people received just over 3 million tourists each year and tourism employed some 400,000 people.

Arajet airline flies to 22 destinations in 12 countries and for this month of October it adds its route to San José. Soon the company expects to announce flights to Medellín and Bogotá, in Colombia.
