Champion genes: Craviotto’s father, world gold at 67

The Craviotto family continues to achieve successalthough in this case, it was not Saúl Craviotto, but his father. Manuel Craviotto, Saúl’s father, won gold this Tuesday at the World Marathon Championships held in Ponte de Lima, Portugal. The progenitor of the most successful Spanish Olympic athlete (five metals, including two golds) won the metal in the veteran k1 modality (between 65-69 years) completing a total of 15,400 meters with a time of one hour and 16 minutes.

Veteran, with a young soul. This is Manuel Craviotto (67 years old), andl who has been canoeing for more than 50 years and because of him, that is why Saúl has this great hobby and of all the achievements he has achieved, especially those five Olympic medals (two gold, two silver and one bronze).

Two days was how long this World Championship lasted where Manuel has managed to add another gold to his collection, since by belonging to the Club Sícoris Club of Lleida, he has been proclaimed several times Champion of Spain. Although the memory that he will never forget was when in 2017 he made the descent of the Sella with his son, in the K2 category, where the two went out with the sole purpose of having fun. “We are not going with great pretensions of time, but to enjoy”, they remembered then.

In fact, father and son have been paddling together all their lives, since he was a cadet and trained for fun, he didn’t think about everything he could achieve. Saul explains: “When we train over long distances, he takes me with his tongue hanging out.” A story of father and son, like father and son, where the two do not stop paddling to achieve success.
