iPhone 14 Pro: A YouTuber crashes a car to test crash detection

It had to happen. A YouTube channel recorded a video of a real car, but remotely controlled, bumping it repeatedly to see if the iPhone 14 Pro’s collision detection works.

“It’s time to try the new iPhone 14 Pro shock detection feature”says the caption of the video. “Does this really work?”

The creators point out that the video “It was filmed in a safe and controlled environment.” It’s not detailed how this was done, but an ordinary car was equipped with equipment that allowed it to be driven from a distance, and YouTubers threw it into a series of junkyard vehicles.

The bottom line if you don’t want to see the video is that it works. There is a delay before the iPhone reacts after the first shock, but you need to rush to stop the call to emergency services in time.

The used iPhone 14 Pro came out completely unscathed. The same cannot be said for the accident car.
