Rockies snap 12-game losing streak against San Francisco Giants

CJ Cron hit a tiebreaking two-run homer as part of a three-run attack in the eighth inning as the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 on Wednesday.

The Rockies had lost 12 straight times to San Francisco. They ended the losing streak thanks to a comeback.

Logan Webb retired 16 straight batters in his bid to become the first six-win starter in the majors this season. He was leading 3-2 leading into the eighth when pinch-hitter Connor Joe singled.

Venezuelan José Álvarez (1-1) took over. Charlie Blackmon sacrificed and Yonathan Daza extended his hitting streak to 11 games with an RBI single.

Cron followed with a shot that sent the ball 454 feet down left field on a changeup for his 10th home run.

Colorado snapped a losing streak of three overall.

Tyler Kinley (1-0) pitched the eighth scoreless, while Daniel Bard pitched to perfection in the ninth for his 10th save in as many chances.

For the Giants, Venezuelans Wilmer Flores 4-1, Thairo Estrada 3-3 with a run scored.

For the Rockies, Venezuelan Yonathan Daza 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI.
