Having banned the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones, it’s time to remove the latest line of Galaxy Tab S8 tablets from the well-known Geekbench platform.
At the origin of the decision is the controversial deliberate limitation of the equipment’s performance to avoid overheating problems.
GOS feature on Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy S22 series is disabled when starting benchmarks

Geekbench has just made another sweeping decision by banning the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series of tablets from its platform. At the origin of the drastic action is the same reason that led the well-known platform to withdraw the line of Galaxy S22 smartphones: the controversy with the deliberate limitation of the equipment’s performance to avoid overheating problems.
The now banned devices are Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The new line of tablets is also equipped with the Game Optimization Service feature, which is at the heart of all the controversy, since it artificially reduces the performance of applications.
But the Geekbench platform makes this decision because the GOS feature is disabled whenever a benchmarking tool is activated. As a result, the processor works at its maximum power, but it does not allow you to see its performance in a real environment.
According to the information released, with the GOS functionality disabled, the processors of these Samsung devices register a 24% increase in their performance in single core and about 11% in multicore mode.
And now, the Geekbench platform, having banned the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones, has also removed Samsung’s latest line of high-end tablets.
Samsung releases update to resolve issue, but only in South Korea

However, Samsung has already released an update that promises to exactly solve the performance throttling issue and consequently the functionality of GOS. However, this update is currently only available in South Korea and for Galaxy S22 series units.
Regarding the availability of the update for other devices and, above all, other regions of the world, Samsung did not provide any information.
According to the changelog of the new update, it comes to remove GPU/CPU performance limits, but it also regulates the internal temperature of the device. On the other hand, it also provides updated game performance management mode in Game Booster.
