MEO (Altice Portugal) announces victory in 5G in all districts of Portugal

The fifth generation of mobile networks brings incredible Internet access speeds over mobile data, as well as lower response time or latency, among other advantages. In other words, 5G is the new quality standard for communications, with operators like Altice Portugal (MEO) to stand out against competitors such as NOS and Vodafone Portugal.

In fact, we are now reporting the arrival of MEO’s 5G to all district capitals, as well as the autonomous regions of Azores and Madeira. In just under a year, the national operator was able to cover the main hotspots in the country.

MEO’s 5G has already reached all the district capitals of Portugal

The significant milestone was released to the press later this week, with MEO making the latest mobile communications standard available across much of the country.

Thus, after the initial setbacks and delays with the 5G rollout, mainly attributable to the “5G auction” promoted by ANACOM, we now have a good paced rollout in various parts of Portugal.

In view of the above, we can venture to say that 2022 will go down in communications history as the year of the commercial launch of the 5G network in Portugal. At the same time, this pattern is also becoming more common in available rate proposals.

Until March 31, you can experimentally use MEO’s 5G

A feat that, for Altice Portugal, with MEO’s 5G is one more reason to promote a country at speed and technology as an asset at the service of all Portuguese.

We remind you that the MEO 5G is available, from January 1, in all district capitals, with a free trial period until March 31.

Currently, around half of the population of the national territory already has access to 5G from Altice Portugal and all MEO tariffs are compatible with 5G.

According to Altice itself, of the 3,000 million euros invested, a third was dedicated to providing the country with fixed and mobile infrastructures, which today provide access to high-speed communications.

Figures that translate into 6 million homes and businesses with fiber optics from Altice Portugal and a 4G mobile network with practically total coverage of the population (99.7%).

Finally, the Autonomous Communities of Madeira and Azores have also been a priority in defending equal access and proximity to the territory
