It has long been said that Google will work on a new foldable smartphone to enter this market segment as well. But recently there were several voices that were raised to say that the research giant would have given up on the project, since he feared that the terminal could not cope with Samsung’s highly successful Galaxy Z Flip 3.

But now Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, has publicly stated on the social network Twitter that Google is keeping the project active and that it plans to start production of its folding screen in the third quarter of 2022.

More: the same official says that the research giant has plans to launch the new terminal in the last quarter of this year. Unfortunately, Ross Young hasn’t come forward with any further information and for that reason, there are no further clues as to the model’s specifications.

Specs expected on Google’s foldable smartphone

But previously several sources in the web world had already advanced some details about the specifications of the model. So far, advanced information indicates that the device will integrate an OLED LTPO screen with a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

In terms of optics, the terminal is expected to have the 12.2-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor, the 12-megapixel IMX386 ultra-wide-angle sensor, and two more sensors from the Japanese brand of eight megapixels each.

In addition, it was noted that the Google foldable would also include the Android 12L operating system.
